The Weekly Edge: Week 1 Picks With the Receipts Attached

Sep 8, 2026·PropsEdge Team

Week 1 free NFL picks from the PropsEdge TD Scorers and Route Mismatches sheets, with the evidence lines printed under every play: Cameron Skattebo, Kenneth Gainwell, Dandre Swift, Ja'Marr Chase and Malik Nabers.

Week 1 is here, and the boards are as soft as they get. Nobody has current-season tape to argue with yet, so the pricing leans on reputation while the sheets lean on what players and defenses actually did last time out. These picks come off two PropsEdge cheat sheets: TD Scorers for the anytime touchdown plays and Route Mismatches for the receiving yardage plays.

Every pick below shows its receipts. The bullets under each heading are the same lines the sheet spits out, so you can see the streak, the route-share edge and the defensive rank that got the player flagged. Read them, then decide whether the price matches the case.

The picks for Week 1

Cameron Skattebo, Anytime TD (+115 at Fanatics)

Skattebo walks into Week 1 already finding the end zone in three straight, and now he gets the defense the sheet ranks dead last against running backs. The volume case and the matchup case point the same direction, which is rare enough at a plus price. Sunday night, primetime, a back who has been the goal-line answer against a front that has not stopped one.

Kenneth Gainwell, Rec Yds Over 20.5 (-114 at Pinnacle)

This is the cleanest structural mismatch on the board: Gainwell runs flats on 42% of his routes and Cincinnati is ranked last in the league against that route, with the outs behind them not much better. He has gone over this number in most of his last ten games, and the sheet has the hit rate comfortably clear of what the price needs. Low line, high floor, no touchdown required.

Dandre Swift, Anytime TD (+285 at DraftKings)

Swift carries 55% of his team's red zone work, which is the number that matters most for this market, and Carolina grades near the bottom against running backs. Half his last eight games ended with a touchdown, and the price here is paying like a long shot rather than like the primary short-yardage back. If the game script cooperates at all, he is the one getting handed the ball inside the ten.

Ja'Marr Chase, Rec Yds Over 85.5 (-111 at DraftKings)

  • 70% HIT RATE VS 53% BREAK-EVEN AT -111
  • TB @ CIN, Sun 1:00pm ET

Chase lives on outs and comebacks, and Tampa Bay is ranked in the bottom of the league against both of those routes. That is the whole thesis: the route tree he already runs is the route tree this defense cannot cover. He has cleared this line in 70% of his last ten, and at -111 the sheet has that comfortably ahead of break-even.

Malik Nabers, Anytime TD (+165 at BetMGM)

Nabers commands 25% of his team's red zone targets and draws the defense the sheet ranks worst in the league against wide receivers. He scored in half his last eight games, so this is not a projection built on one hot afternoon. Same game as the Skattebo pick, so understand you are doubling down on the Giants finding the end zone against Dallas.

The free column is a slice. A subscriber gets every PropsEdge cheat sheet in full each week, not the handful that fit in an email: TD Scorers, Route Mismatches and the rest, with projections for every game on the slate rather than the games we had room to write about. There is also the pick builder for stacking your own card off the same projections, and the line-shopping feed so you are not taking a worse number than the one printed here when the board moves Sunday morning. Bet what you can afford to lose. If it stops being fun, stop.
